What is an Encounter?
We believe that the first step in becoming a disciple is to be “free indeed.” Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31-32 NIV).
An Encounter Retreat is a weekend short course in freedom - freedom from habits, bondages, bitterness, wrong thoughts, and past mistakes. At the Encounter, the Lord will set you free through the power of the cross.
Who will be there?
Each Encounter is led by a Bethel Worship Center leader or staff member with a group of trained assistants. Men attend Men Encounters, and women attend Women Encounters. Youth Encounters (Uprising)are not gender-specific.
Where is the Encounter Retreat held?
Encounters are held at Shiloh Park Retreat Center. Participants will be informed in advance concerning the location for their specific retreat.
What is the schedule for the Encounter?
Encounters generally run from a Friday evening until the following Sunday morning. Participants arrive at the designated retreat location by 6:00 p.m. Friday for registration, room assignments (if applicable), and the opening session and activities. Sessions continue throughout Saturday and until service time on Sunday. At that time, participants join the weekend service at Bethel Worship Center. After the service, participants return home.
